ASCTech Research Consulting Services
ASCTech supports a broad range of research information technology needs including day-to-day laboratory instrument and research computer support, management of computation and storage resources, providing data sharing and management consultation, and coordinating interactions with other groups in ASCTech, the university and beyond. While ASCTech offers specific services, they also work on a consulting or even more exploratory basis.
Online Survey and Data Entry support
- The Center for Human Resources Research offers a variety of services to enhance research including survey design, data management, and phone/VoIP-based research.
- The Ohio State University has contracted with Qualtrics (requires log-in), one of the leaders in online survey software products, for provisioning surveys for classes and research at the university.
- The Center for Translational and Clinical Sciences also offers RedCap for web-based data capture.
External Grant Submission and Management
The Office of Sponsored Programs partners with faculty and staff to provide the highest quality research administration at all stages of sponsored projects, by promoting electronic research administration, responsible stewardship of funds and sound management practices.
Research involving human participants or animals
The Office of Responsible Research Practices provides administrative support to the university research community and the committees responsible for research review and oversight; and offers consultation about when research or instructional activities involving animals, humans or biohazards require committee approvals.
Conflict of Interest, Chemical Security, Research Misconduct, Research Diving Oversight, Export Control, Human Gene Transfer
The Office of Research Compliance coordinates institution-wide research compliance policy and procedure development, and by partnering with researchers, so that the university is compliant with federal, state and local laws and regulations as well as university policies.
Data storage and web policies and security
The Office of the Chief Information Officer Institutional Data Policy specifies requirements for the protection of Ohio State’s institutional data while preserving the open, information-sharing mission of its academic culture.
Data use agreements, confidential disclosure agreements, and material transfer agreements
The Technology Commercialization Office handles data use agreements, material transfer agreements and confidential disclosure agreements. Also supports creativity, innovation, commercialization and entrepreneurship.
